When you were a child, did you have a hero? Maybe it was your older sibling, your parents, a super hero on television. I don’t remember specifically saying “I want to grow up to be like ___________.” when I was a child.
Over the past year, I’ve realized the importance in having a mentor. It doesn’t have to be someone who you know, are in constant contact or is even alive. Just simply having someone to follow by example is sufficient.
In the fitnses industry, I have several people that inspire me and I consider my mentors whether they know it or not. My coach, Becky & her sister Kristina being two of my mentors. And another person, I really look up to, admire and aspire to be like, is Danielle Hinson! It does not mean that I compare myself to her because everyone’s struggles, personalities, and journey is different. I cannot compare my life or even my goals to hers. All I know is I like her style and ever occurrence I’ve had with her, I’ve found that she is humble, sweet and genuine and that is the type of person I want to be. I love that she works hard, treats others well, but doesn’t take any shit. I’ve watched her go from 8,000 Facebook followers to 18,000+ in the time I’ve been a coach.
My best friend & one of my personally sponsored coaches adore Danielle, I think more than I do, which is hard to believe. I wasn’t sure how I’d ever be able to get them at the same location so that they could meet this fabulous woman. I had a vision for my future & for my team – So I decided to pair two things together to make it all happen!
My long term goal is to ditch the 8-5 and follow my heart, which means my career will be 100% devoted to fitness, health & life coaching.
In order to reach this goal, one cannot just “wish” and have it happen.
There are certain steps one must take to lay the ground work to make their dreams and passions become fulfilled. It does not happen because of luck or fate.
My goal was to further my knowledge when it came to health & fitness and to show my committment to this industry & what I am passionate about.
At this point in my life, going back to college is not feasible. So I decided that I would make the committment to become Insanity Certified and then P90X Certified.
Instead of traveling to the nearest location holding a Certification I asked what it would take to host my OWN in MY town & then made it happen!
I then asked her if she would be willing to join us for dinner. She’s never been invited to something like this and typically goes direct to her hotel room and prepares for the following day, however this time she said YES. What a DREAM come true.
So I arranged for a private dinner for my personally sponsored coaches, and 6 local coaches who I am very close to. My oldest daughter I think was the most excited. She said she can’t wait to tell all of her teachers at school who she’s already been talking to about Beachbody.
I reserved a private room at Ernie’s Restaurant in downtown Brenham so that we could enjoy a relaxed evening in a more intimate setting to make sure we were able to really spend time with this amazing coach who was our guest for the night. The food and atmosphere was great, but the service was excellent. Michelle took great care of us and put up with all of the chaos that comes with serving 25 people and 3 kids.
The moral of the story: If you don’t go after what you want, you’ll never have it. If you don’t ask, the answer is always no. If you don’t step forward, you’re always in the same place.
Today was an awesome experience. When I orchestrated and organized the Insanity Certification, I really only anticipated about 10 people joining me. But I showed up this morning and Danielle told me that there was 25 people registered. I was ecstatic.
We learned so much today. Things that I can use to really help the people who come to Brenham’s Weekly FREE Fit Club. I could go on and on about what we learned, but I will spare everyone who is reading this. If you want to know more about the science behind Insanity or how to instruct it, get yourself registered at www.insanitycertification.com and become the NEXT Certified Insanity Instructor.
One thing that I took away from what Danielle said was what I live by – The way you treat the people who come to your class, will set the precedence for your success or failure as a group fitness instructor. She is an amazing person. Genuine. Kind hearted. Smart. Funny. And has a kick-ass personality! If you haven’t met her. You should. Every encounter I’ve had with her has been amazing and rememberable.
Overall I’d rate today as a 10!
Keeping my fingers crossed that I answered at least 32 out of 40 questions correctly!
Stay tuned Brenham.
Have a safe and Happy Labor Day.
I am spending the rest of this long weekend, unplugged with friends in New Braunfels!

Oh yeah – One more thing to add to my DREAM BOARD & GOAL list: Become a Master Trainer. Think I can do it?
